Laravel delivery process
From a Laravel problem to a checked release
A repair or upgrade should leave the application working, the release recoverable and the next maintainer able to understand what changed.
01Reproduce the affected task
Agree which journey is failing and what a successful result looks like. Record the deployed release, PHP and Laravel versions, relevant packages and a reproducible example using synthetic data. Keep credentials and private records out of the initial brief.
02Plan the compatibility and data changes
Review package constraints and the upgrade guides for the intended transitions. Rehearse changes against the relevant database engine. Identify long-running jobs, webhooks and scheduled tasks that could be affected while old and new code overlap.
03Rehearse release and recovery
Test the artifact and reviewed lockfile in a private environment. Rehearse migrations with recoverable test data. A database down migration is not a universal undo: removing columns or restoring a backup can lose newer data. Agree the recovery limit and downtime before release.
04Release with the background work included
At the approved window, deploy the tested artifact, apply the agreed migration and cache steps, and reload long-lived services using the procedure supported by that Laravel version and hosting setup. Confirm queue workers use the new code, the process supervisor restarts them, and scheduled tasks run once as intended.
05Verify and hand off
Repeat the important journey and a representative failure using controlled tests. Check failed jobs, scheduled work, application errors and the agreed integration behavior. Hand over the release identity, test results, rollback limits, remaining risks and the person responsible for follow-up.
Discuss the application
Describe the Laravel task you need help with.
